OnePlus 8 Could Come With Wireless Charging Feature

OnePlus has seated itself as one of the most popular smartphone manufacturers by offering feature-packed smartphones at lucrative prices. One of the reasons why OnePlus has attained this status in the market is the latest processor and premium features it offers at modest pricing.

However, when OnePlus launched OnePlus 7T Pro recently, most people believed that it will come with a wireless charging option. If you were also disappointed by not seeing wireless charging in the latest OnePlus smartphone, we’ve got a piece of good news.

As spotted by MobileScout, OnePlus has recently joined the Wireless Power Consortium, the authority that looks over wireless charging standards incorporated in smartphones supporting Qi wireless charging. OnePlus is now a ‘full member’ of the Wireless Power Consortium.

This, almost, confirms that future OnePlus smartphones will support wireless charging and we might even see OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro with wireless charging feature in the upcoming release.

OnePlus 8 is touted to feature a 6.7-inch 120Hz display, Snapdragon 865, a punch-hole for the selfie camera and a quad-camera setup on the rear side.

When combined with wireless charging, OnePlus 8 could turn out to be a complete package ready to compete with the likes of Samsung S series and Apple’s iPhones.

Earlier, Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus has, has described his dissatisfaction with wireless charging. Speaking on The Vergecast, he said that 10W wireless charging isn’t comparable to the Warp Charging offered by the company.

Nonetheless, now that OnePlus is a member of Wireless Power Consortium, we could finally see OnePlus 8 with a wireless charging feature.
