OnePlus’ OxygenOS is preferred by many owing to its decluttered interface and the level of customization it offers as compared to other Android skins.
The company has collaborated with Google time and again to bring the latest Android features to OxygenOS. Today, OnePlus has announced the Google Assistant-powered “Ambient Mode” for OnePlus devices.
Once enabled in Google Assistant settings, Ambient Mode activates when you put your OnePlus device into charging. It allows you to access proactive information and suggestions on topics like weather, entertainment, reminders, agenda and more.
This new OxygenOS feature will also allow you to turn your OnePlus smartphone into a digital photo frame. Moreover, the Ambient Mode in Google Assistant also doubles up as an interface for controlling smart devices.
How to enable Google Assistant’s Ambient Mode in OnePlus devices?
According to a blog post published by OnePlus, you can enable the feature by following the below-given steps:
- Go to the Google App settings on your OnePlus smartphone.
- Tap on Assistant > Assistant Devices > Phone
- Enable the Ambient Mode
- Connect your device to the charger
Ambient Mode of Google Assistant will be available for OnePlus 3 and above running on Android 8.0 and above. We tried to enable the feature on our OnePlus device but it wasn’t available at the time of writing. OnePlus says it is a staged rollout and might take up to a week to release.
If you’re a frequent user of Google Assistant, this could be a nifty feature for you. However, with the 30W fast charging offered by OnePlus these days, it doesn’t make much sense to use this OxygenOS feature as it is available only when your phone is charging.
Nonetheless, you can share your experience with us once the feature is available on your device.
