Developers tend to abuse app permissions i.e., asking for permissions unrelated to the app’s functionality. Google has tackled the problem by tightening app screening rules for the Play Store and revamping the entire permission system for Android 10. The latest Android version also introduced a security feature that enables users to grant temporary GPS access to apps when they’re open.
MIUI 11 Features: App Behavior Records
The latest MIUI 11 feature is known as “App Behavior Records.” It does mainly two things — first, it logs the behavior of the app. For instance, when the app is auto-launching or forcing other apps to launch.
Second, it records the sensitive actions used by apps. These actions on MIUI 11 include recording audio in the background, making a phone call, accessing call history, contacts, location, text messages, files, and a few others.
Users would be able to control whether to be notified when a particular app is accessing permissions or meddling with sensitive actions. Xiaomi is currently testing the feature; hence we cannot guarantee that it will roll-out in future versions of MIUI 11.
Nevertheless, the security feature would certainly help in stopping app developers from eavesdropping on the users’ data. This would also add to the exclusivity of MIUI 11.
