Bill Gates Dissapoints Elon Musk By Choosing Porsche Taycan Over Tesla

In a recent interview with YouTuber Marques Brownlee, Bill Gates said something about Tesla electric cars that has made headlines on the internet. He said he bought Porsche Taycan as his first electric car, instead of Tesla.

Some publications reporting that Bill will never buy a Tesla are trying to spin it the wrong way. The fact is that Bill said nothing that could affect the reputation of Tesla’s electric cars. Buying a Porsche Taycan can simply be his personal choice.

He talks about climate change, zero emissions, green energy, coronavirus, and many other things.

Here is a video of Bill’s interview with the YouTuber Brownlee.

The interview started with a little chat on the 20th anniversary of the Bill and Melinda gates foundation; the organization that was started back in 2000. Brownlee then addressed the contribution of Gates towards US Education and Global Health.

After a while, the YouTuber shifted the topic to climate change. Earlier, Bill said that “tackling climate change is going to take historic levels of global cooperation.”

On the channel, he said that passenger cars are not enough to tackle this problem. Other sources like industrial and agricultural, even airplanes and a lot of different factors contribute towards emission.

However, electric passenger cars have a significant role in the mission zero-emission.

Here is what created controversies.

Brownlee said that Tesla has a great product but it’s premium, and this is why it’s not affordable by the masses.

Gates replied that the premium tag would come to zero over the next decade as electric vehicles will become more affordable in the next 10 years.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s sales have boosted since Tesla’s Model 3 was released in the market as it is far more affordable than its previous products.

What Gates said, it was more in general, applicable to all-electric vehicle makers. It also refers to the range-anxiety that bothers the masses.

Gates mentioned that he doesn’t have a Tesla. Instead, he has a Porsche Taycan electric. However, he didn’t explain why he didn’t buy a Tesla. As I said, it’s his personal choice and we should respect it.

Furthermore, he added some advantages of electric cars such as low maintenance and low running cost as compared to gasoline-run vehicles.

After the interview, there was a tweet from Elon Musk, as you can see in the pic.

What might have bothered Elon and Tesla lovers is that Bill talks about other automakers and Tesla on the same platform.

Tesla is a whole different thing and cannot be kept on the same platform as others in electric vehicle manufacturers.

As when he referred to range-anxiety among the customers, it should not include Tesla keeping in mind the recent improvements in the range of Tesla Model S and Model X. And in ten years, Tesla will set benchmarks that could only be imagined.
