Netflix Is Testing A New “Mobile+” Low Cost Subscription Plan In India

Netflix, one of the most popular OTT platforms, has started testing a new Rs 349 plan for its Indian audience. The plan has been named Mobile+, and it offers HD streaming with multiple device support. However, the plan will only allow a single screen at a time.

A few months ago, the company launched a “Mobile” only plan in India that costs around Rs 199 per month. The Mobile Only plan offers Standard Definition (SD) streaming for all Netflix movies and shows.

The Netflix Mobile+ plan will work midway between the basic and the Mobile-only plan. It will be best suited for people who want to stream Netflix in HD on their smartphone.

All Netflix India Plans

First, there is a “Basic” plan in India that comes at Rs 499, which offers multiple device support with SD streaming. Next up is the “Standard” plan, which allows users to watch two screens at a time and offers HD streaming. Netflix’s standard plan costs around Rs 649 per month.

The most expensive plan is the “Premium” one, which is available at Rs 799 per month. The premium plan offers four screens at a time and Ultra HD streaming.

The cheapest plan in India is the Mobile-only plan, which offers SD streaming at 199 per month. The mobile-only plan was launched by Netflix to gain a broad audience in India as most Indian users prefer streaming Netflix on their mobile.

The Mobile+ plan will help Netflix tackle other streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Apple TV+, and more. It will be interesting to see how the audience reacts to the brand new subscription. Since the plan is still being tested, it’s difficult to say if the new Netflix plan will become a reality in India.
